🌻Solarpunk | Do you have a beginner guide for new players?

Welcome to Solarpunk. We are happy you are here. 🌻

Before you start, please keep in mind that Solarpunk was mainly developed by a team of two people. It is not a huge production made by 100 developers. It is a calm, cozy survival crafting game about building, farming, exploring floating islands, and creating your own peaceful home in the sky.

Here are a few tips that should help you get started smoothly.

Choose Soft Mode if you want a more relaxed experience

Soft Mode is made for cozy players who do not want too much pressure. If you mainly want to build, farm, explore, and enjoy the atmosphere, this mode might be perfect for you.

Build water containers early

One of the first things you should do is build water containers. They help you store water and make sure you have enough to drink, especially when it does not rain for a while.

Later, you can also research a carafe and boil water with the oven. This is very useful when you are traveling or when rain is rare.

Read the Survival Guide

Craft the Survival Guide as soon as possible and take a look at it. It explains many important systems and can help you whenever you are unsure what to do next.

For example, if you need more animal products like eggs, the Survival Guide explains how animal breeding works.

Start building while your crops are growing

Sometimes you will wait for your plants to grow. Use that time to start building and decorating your first little home. Solarpunk is not only about progression. It is also about creating a cozy place that feels like yours. 🏡

Protect your plants from thunderstorms

Plants can be destroyed during thunderstorms. To keep them safe, build a greenhouse. This becomes especially important once you have crops that you really need for progression.

Iron patches can be mined with the pickaxe

If you find iron patches, you can hit them with your pickaxe. This is an important early resource, so keep an eye out while exploring.

Wheat is not on the starting island

If you are looking for wheat and cannot find it, do not worry. Wheat does not grow on the starting island. You will need to explore further to find it.

Airships are personal in co-op

In co-op, only the person who built an airship can use that airship. Your co-op partner needs to build their own airship.

Later in the game, you can unlock faster airships, so exploration becomes much smoother over time.

How to start co-op mode

To play with friends, start a new world in Solarpunk. Then press Esc , choose Host Game, press Esc  again, and invite your friends.

Roof building takes a little patience

Building roofs can feel a bit tricky at the beginning. Be patient with it. Once you understand how the pieces connect, it becomes much easier.

Use the “Unstuck Me” button if needed

Some players have trouble finding the Unstuck Me button. You can find it in the menu under:

Settings → General → all the way at the bottom

Use it if you ever get stuck somewhere.

Take your time

Solarpunk is meant to be calm and relaxing. You do not need to rush everything.

Build your home, grow your crops, explore new islands, care for your animals, and enjoy the journey at your own pace. ☀️
